Who is a Good Candidate for Dentures?

If you want to receive dentures to replace your missing teeth, you must meet with one of our dentists to discuss your candidacy. This requires that you be without one or both arches of teeth or have multiple vacant sockets along the top or bottom row.

You can expect our team to evaluate your jawbone density to ensure it will support your new prosthetic, and we’ll check for any existing signs of gum disease or decay. If we discover a problem, we’ll need to address it before providing custom dentures.

Types of Dentures

Garden Oaks Family & Cosmetic Dentistry offers three types of dentures: full, partial, and implant-supported. We’ll discuss each one during your consultation to determine which will give you the best results.

Partial Dentures

Filling in a portion of your top or bottom row of teeth is a partial denture. Consisting of an acrylic base, porcelain teeth, and metal clasps or clips, it attaches to healthy teeth. The prosthetic fits comfortably, creating a seamless, natural-looking smile you can enjoy.

Full Dentures

Restoring an entire row of teeth is a full denture. Instead of metal clasps, natural suction and denture adhesive are used to secure your prosthetic. Upper dentures cover the roof of your mouth, while lower dentures are crafted in the shape of a horseshoe to make room for your tongue.

Implant Dentures

Combining traditional dentures with titanium posts, implant dentures offer a level of stability and permanence that partial and full prosthetics cannot. Between 4 and 6 implant posts are placed in the jawbone to provide a strong foundation. This will support your new set of teeth once they are secured.
