Dentist in Fort Lee
Get to Know Wanjoo Choi, DMD

Dr. Choi came to dentistry out of a genuine desire to care for people, and that is still what guides the way she practices today. Before dental school she served as a certified medical interpreter, sitting with patients who were trying to explain what hurt in a language that wasn’t their own — an experience that taught her how much of good care happens before the handpiece ever starts. She loves to listen first and to explain every option in plain terms, and she never wants a patient to leave the chair unsure of what just happened or what comes next. Fluent in Korean and English, she especially enjoys being able to speak with patients and families in Fort Lee in their own language. Nothing, she says, is more rewarding than seeing a patient leave free of pain and with a beautiful smile.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Choi earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, one of the oldest dental schools in the country, after completing her undergraduate studies at Columbia University. At Penn she trained extensively in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, as well as in oral surgery, endodontics, and both fixed and removable prosthetics. She continues to pursue advanced continuing education in dental implants and endodontics.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Music is Dr. Choi’s other language. She writes her own lyrics and melodies, and spends much of her free time singing and recording. You can ask her for a song to match your mood — she’s always happy to share what she’s been listening to.
